It’s A Wonderful Life

The 2015-16 Abdo New River Room Theater Series at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts continues with the heartwarming holiday classic It’s A Wonderful Life, presented by Arts Radio Network Theatre Project and the Broward Center on Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m.

As with the movie of the same name, It’s A Wonderful Life tells the inspirational story of the self-doubting do-gooder George Bailey and the endearing angel-in-training Clarence, who demonstrates how George had a positive impact on so many people’s lives. This production combines the nostalgia of classic radio drama and the excitement of a live theatrical performance as the golden age of radio is brought gloriously back to life on stage.

From The Mercury Theatre to A Prairie Home Companion, the radio play is a uniquely American art form and one of this country’s most beloved.  During the 1930s through 1950s, live performances of plays broadcast over the radio were a part of everyday life. The Arts Radio Network Theatre Project offers a trip to the past with a modern twist.

Starting one hour prior to the performance and during intermission, sumptuous sandwiches, salads, snacks and desserts are available for purchase with convenience walk-up service at the Café in the Abdo New River Room. A full cash bar is also available.

Tickets for It’s A Wonderful Life are available for $25.  Ticketmaster is the only official ticketing service of the Broward Center, Parker Playhouse and affiliated venues. Buy tickets online at BrowardCenter.org or Ticketmaster.com; by phone at 954-462-0222; in person at Ticketmaster outlets or the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office.
