The worst thing about things that seem too good to be true is that, yep, they usually are. When it was announced back in December that Jack Klugman, at the age of 90, would star in the George Street Playhouse’s production of 12 Angry Men, it felt like one of those neat wrap-ups that we get every so often, a person’s career describing itself as an arc where the last major triumph echoes the first – in this case, with Klugman starring in the same work that gave him his initial success more than a half-century ago. Alas, life is fickle, and Klugman has withdrawn from the production, citing health reasons. His role will be filled by David Canary, which is nice for David Canary, because after nearly thirty years on All My Children, he’s probably looking for a new challenge. Also, All My Children is done, and David Canary might need the work. Still, though. (Kenneth Jones, Playbill)
