Murder, Dr. Crippen, ’tis Murder, at Buntport Theater in Denver

The story of Dr. Hawley Crippen is not so well known these days, or at least not discussed as much as it once was, when it was notable as the first case ever solved as a direct result of wireless communication. Quite the notable success for the time, slightly more than a century ago: the good doctor boards the SS Montrose in Antwerp, bound for Canada, and is met on arrival by the head inspector of Scotland Yard, who’d been tipped off by the captain of the Montrose via wireless transmission. For the purposes of this narrative, let’s ignore the fact that modern forensics have cast serious doubt on the doc’s guilt, and instead turn our eyes to the Buntport Theater, where Emily Schwartz’ dark comedy The Three Faces of Dr. Crippen is wearing out the boards between here and next week.
