Dusty old funding dinosaur the National Endowment for the Arts announced some $22.5 million in grants on Thursday. Significant outlays went to the New Dramatists for their Playwrights Lab, the L.A. Philharmonic to help underwrite their Mahler Project, the San Francisco Symphony’s youth orchestra training program, Actors Theatre of Louisville for the annual Humana Festival of New American Plays, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
