National Music Theater Conference Fills Its Ranks

It’s probably a good thing, on Tony Announcement Tuesday, to remember where the shows that wind up on Broadway come from. (This is a hellishly naive take, I think, but for the record: pretty much everywhere, if producers feel like they can make a buck on it?) That said, some outposts of musical development have a slightly better track record than others; witness the National Music Theater Conference, run out of the O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, which developed Nine and Avenue Q, among others, and just yesterday announced the selections for this year’s NMTC.
