The touring production of Dustin Lance Black’s 8 will, alas, not feature George Clooney. In order to bask in his dapper, lupine glow, you’ve got to drag out to Los Angeles this spring, and pay far out the nose for tickets. (That’s a lie, actually: there are no tickets.) That said, 8‘s message needs to be heard, and maybe presenting it as a drama, or at least a dramatic reading, will make it a little more appealing and accessible. Better a stage play than reams of punditry, yes? Although whenever one of those talking heads gets really worked up and starts to sputter, that right there, that’s comedy.
