The city of San Diego has a giant pipe organ sitting in the middle of Balboa Park. I mean, giant – the thing weighs fifty tons and has somewhere north of 4500 pipes in it. Now, of course, San Diego’s just as broke as everywhere else in this country, because why wouldn’t it be, and budget cuts threatened the job of the organist charged with playing a weekly concert on the beast.
