Scheduled, perhaps, to coincide with the opening of this year’s 10^th anniversary Art Basel festival and exhibition, a handful of artists who are losing their studios in the Design District to development at the end of the year will throw open their studios for an ersatz, informal block party tomorrow night. The artists bear no animosity toward the developer, Craig Robins, and this is not a strong arm situation, but no self-respecting artist would be able to let a bunch of studios that are already scheduled for destruction remain entirely intact.
