Waters’ “Cry-Baby” Takes the St. Louis Stage

Hairspray got all the glee and glamour, but John Waters also gave his blessing to the Broadway adaptation of Cry-Baby, which played sixty-some performances at the Marquis Theatre in 2008 before disappearing. Waters is convinced that the show still has life, and New Line artistic director Scott Miller agrees, and now a scaled-down, revamped Cry-Baby is hitting the Washington University South Campus Theatre starting Friday at 8. The show runs through the 24th. (Judith Newmark, St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
