Wayne Horvitz to premiere new work

Seattle composer and pianist Wayne Horvitz, who did a dandy job a few years back with his music theater piece about labor martyr Joe Hill, has taken on another labor story for a collaboration with The Central Heating Lab at A Contemporary Theatre. “Smokestack Arias,” about the grisly 1916 Everett Massacre, is a song cycle for soprano voice, piano and electronics with text by Horvitz’s wife, Robin Holcomb.
