Whoever Yuri Lane is, apparently he was all over YouTube for awhile there, scoring multiple millions of hits for his human beatbox videos. Now Yuri Lane is forgotten, or so it seems, or else he’s just not viral anymore, which makes a bit more sense, because he’s got a one-man show, “MeTube”, up now at Collaboraction Theatre on Milwaukee Ave., and you wouldn’t think Collaboraction would give him the stage if he was truly forgotten. But TheaterLoop’s Chris Jones makes a host of solid points here about the nature and longevity of viral fame, and why a man who garnered nine million YouTube views couldn’t get fifty people to pay twenty dollars to watch him act out the same type of stuff on a small stage.
