See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, hand crafted lithograph
On Friday Feb. 10th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Martin Lawrence Galleries in Dallas, artist Robert Deyber’s most recent paintings and lithographs will be on display. Many of his new works will be unveiled during his February tour.
An American artist, Robert Deyber was born and raised in Greenwich Connecticut and has used his imagination to create art since he was a young boy. He still uses that imagination to be a “visual raconteur”, a storyteller with a paintbrush. In every canvas, the artist’s sense of humor is brought to light, each painting a visual portrayal of a clever turn on a common phrase. The dreamlike imagery in which Deyber uses highly stylized composition, light and contrasting colors, shows the viewer that he has deep roots in the Surrealist movement. However, certain elements and the undecided tone between sincerity and irony place his art distinctly in the contemporary.
Fun Fact: Tom Petty fans may be interested to know that Tom Petty and his wife are Deyber collectors and commissioned him to create imagery for Petty’s album, Highway Companion!
