Journey To The South Pole, Via Miami

If you are looking for a novel take on an evening of theatre you may want to try Conquest of the South Pole presented by the PlayGround Theatre.  Written by Manfred Karge, who is a member of Brecht’s Berliner Ensemble, Conquest of the South Pole is an immersive theatre experience where the spectator is encouraged to move freely through the playing space as the action unfolds.

The play centers on four unemployed youths who have lost themselves in a haze of partying, Pabst and pinball. Feeling more than frustrated by the recession and their own long-term unemployment these “drunks and punks” decide to stage their very own revolution: a reenactment of Ronald Amundsen’s treacherous 1911 expedition to the South Pole. Unable to face life, unwilling to accept death, will their imaginary adventure be enough to save them?

This PlayGround Theater production of Conquest of the South Pole will be appearing at The Sandbox at 8:00 pm May 31st – June 9th.  The Sandbox is located at 9816 NE 2nd Ave in Miami Shores, FL.  Entry by donation $10 – $25 – Cash Only.
