Les Misérables at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre

For four weeks only the epic Broadway blockbuster Les Misérables will transform the stage at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre into 19th century France. Survival of the human spirit prevails in this larger-than-life tale of compassion and destruction. Seen by over 70 million people in more than 42 countries, Les Misérables has received over 76 awards internationally, including eight Tony Awards® and five Drama Desk awards.

Sponsored by Roe Green and The Roe Green Foundation and John Osher and Barbara Congemi, Les Misérables is adapted from Les Misérables by Victor Hugo by adapters John Caird and Trevor Nunn, with book by Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schonberg. The musical features lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and music by Claude-Michel Schonberg. This production will feature a 13-piece live orchestra.

Based on the beloved novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables is set against the backdrop of a France still roiling from the effects of the French Revolution, where escaped convict Jean Valjean spends decades on the run from relentless policeman Javert. This smash hit musical features unforgettable songs, including “I Dreamed a Dream,” “One Day More” and “On My Own.”

“Les Misérables is undisputedly one of greatest musicals of all time, and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s production is not to be missed,” said Andrew Kato, the Theatre’s producing artistic director. “This is your chance to see this large-scale worldwide phenomenon up close and personal in our 617-seat theatre. This stunning professional production will remind you of the simplest of truths: the redemptive power of unconditional, selfless love.”

“Les Misérables offers a churning and compelling story about the struggle between opposites and contradictions: mercy and justice, compassion and duty, trust and betrayal, love and loss, dreams and reality, vengeance and compassion,” director Mark Martino said. “This epic musical has a wonderful story, unforgettable characters and a soaring score that compels us to feel in our bones the fervor of rebellion, the sweetness of love, the sorrow of loss and the final joy and peace of salvation.”

Les Misérables will be appearing at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre March 10 – April 5, 2015. The not-for-profit Maltz Jupiter Theatre has become one of Florida’s preeminent professional theatres, committed to production and education through its collaborations with local and national artists.
