Kiang Goes Out with a Bang

Credit: Kiang Gallery

Kiang Gallery, one of the most revered galleries in the Atlanta art scene, ends its remarkable 20-year tenure in the city with 16 Sided Crystal, a solo exhibition presenting works by local artist Ben Steele. The 16 oil on panel works, paintings based on straight photographs that are both transcendental and technological, aim to “simulate a digital vocabulary through physical form…through crystals and prisms, of actual physical constructions.” With an opening reception scheduled for Friday, December 9 from 7-10pm, 16 Sided Crystal runs through January 28, 2012.

Established in 1992, the eponymous Kiang Gallery has been a mainstay on the Atlanta arts scene, presenting an impressive exhibition program of contemporary works from distinguished artists in virtually all media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and digital media. Most notable, however, has been Kiang’s commitment to bringing Chinese contemporary art and Chinese photography to the forefront.

This exhibition, and gallery, is not to be missed. Make sure to check out 16 Sided Crystal, before Kiang closes its doors for good at the end of March 2012.
