Portland Photo Month

April is Portland Photo Month, an event which is not a product of any one organization, but rather a collaboration of art galleries, nonprofits and individual artists. Roger Coleman’s ’19 seconds’ at FLYNNDOG

 

Roger Coleman’s latest exhibition, “that was so 19 seconds ago”, can be viewed at FLYNNDOG, an art gallery found at 208 Flynn Avenue in Burlington Vermont.  The exhibit will be on view until April 28th.  This exhibit is one of many that is a part of the First Friday Art Walk, a weekly showcase of local artwork held the first Friday of each month throughout the city of Burlington.  Around forty art …more…

Newest Installment of ‘Gestures’ Opens At The Mattress Factory

In 2001, the Mattress Factory initiated the Gestures exhibition series to present new works by regional artists. On March 30, 2012, the sixteenth installment of the series opened at the museum’s annex gallery located at 1414 Monterey Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

Comics are Serious Business at the Emerald City Comicon

Last weekend, roughly 53,000 fans swarmed the Convention Center downtown to attend the Emerald City Comicon, a gathering of the crème-de-la-crème of the comic book industry and one of the largest US fan conventions devoted to comic book arts.

In Our Element

Passengers traveling through Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon this summer should allow extra time to enjoy the series of rotating art exhibits that grace its concourses. From April 1 through October 15, 2012, PDX is featuring an exhibit entitled “In Our Element.”

Feminism & Co. at the MCA Denver

Color Wave Fantasies – Jules Olitski at MFA Houston

Trash to Treasures: The Sculptures of Dave Thompson is the current exhibit showing at the Spring Preserve until May 20th 2012.  Found-object artist Dave Thompson uses primarily discarded metal, recycling it and transforming it into mythical creatures and other other worldly creations.

Located just a few minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip the Spring Preserve feels like a completely different world offering a secluded peaceful oasis from all the glitz and glam.  This educational and environmentally conscious facility boast many different types of entertainment for adults and children alike.
